Ollie James Haddix, 88, of Columbus, passed away at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Ollie was born October 8, 1931, to Arthur and Emma Smith Haddix. He married Joyce Spears on August 14, 1961. Ollie was previously employed at Donner Center at the age of 17 and retired from Bartholomew County School Corporation after 44 years. He was employed there from 1967 – 2010. He enjoyed fishing with his wife, working in his yard and listening to gospel country music. On November 18, 2018, Ollie was saved and baptized. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2019, at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Ancel Harden. Calling will be from 11 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Ollie is survived by his children, Betsy (Rick) Cross of Columbus, Angie Haddix of Columbus and James Arthur (Kandy) Haddix of Columbus; brother, Troy (Virginia) Haddix of North Vernon; sisters, Carolyn Martin of Columbus, and Della Gilpin of Hope; grandchildren, Lindsey Cross Bay, Krystina Haddix and James Joseph Haddix; and great-grandchildren, Brayden Haddix and McKenna Bay. Ollie was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce, in 2005; sisters, Nellie Haddix, Flossie George, Margie Cody, Mossie Brown and Ella Keller Anderson; and brothers, John, Willie, Roy, and Elmer Haddix.

  4. Ollie was a really nice person and a hard worker, He and my father worked at Donner together I am sure over 30 years. That is where I was introduced to him, and my dad always spoke highly of him! Will be missed by many.
