Kathryn Marie Wilson, 95, passed from this life on December 15, 2019.
“Katie” was born January 4, 1924, in Columbus, Indiana. She was the daughter of Daniel G. and Hilda Rossman Eckelman. Katie was married to Chester Wilson on May 14, 1950, who preceded her in death on September 17th, 2000.
She was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and a charter member of the Christian Fellowship Society.
Katie was a member of Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority, Zonta International, Columbus Jayshees, Columbus Antique Club, Columbus Regional Auxiliary, and Senior Center. She loved her bridge clubs.
Katie worked at Stillwell Pharmacy, was secretary to Mayor Carlos Folger, was an assistant librarian at Bartholomew County Library for a number of years, and had owned and operated The Clothes Tree Thrift Shop.
She was a devoted wife and enjoyed the annual family vacations and her grandchildren. Katie and Chet traveled to 48 of the 50 states and Europe.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, December, 23, 2019, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Foster officiating. Calling will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Monday. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial donations can be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Building Fund, Together We Live 2.0, in memory of Katie.
She is survived by her children, John K. (Krista) Wilson of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and Susan Jane (Greg) Meyer of Evansville, Indiana; grandchildren, Dylan Wilson, Megan Wilson, John Hull, and Wilson Hull; and great-grandchildren, Aidan McNamara, Lila McNamara, Elizabeth Wilson, and Maddie Barker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Hilda Rossman Eckelman; her husband, Chester Wilson; a brother, George Eckelman and sisters, Marcille Walker and Elizabeth Lustig McKinney; and a grandchild, Lauren Barker.
