Larry Dean Slinker, 79, of Columbus, passed away Saturday January 4, 2020, at his home. Larry was born June 2, 1940 in Columbus, the son of Oscar Leonard and Renda Mae Johnson Slinker. He married Eva Nell Gentry on April 9, 1965. Larry was a graduate of Columbus High School and served in the U.S. Army. He retired from UPS, loved gardening and playing golf. Larry especially loved spending time with his family. The funeral will be at 10:00 am Friday, January 10, 2020 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Bishop Andy Hilton. Military Rites will be performed by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 pm Thursday, January 9, 2020 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Larry is survived by a son, Jason T. (Jennifer) Slinker of Port Saint Lucy, Florida; daughters, Melissa A. (Christopher) West of Franklin and Amy L. (Paul) Donica of Greenwood; grandchildren Macy (Kenyon) Stephan, Mallory , Madison, and Mackenzie West, Emily, Cole, and Isabelle Donica, Alexis Slinker, and Noah Slinker; a great-grandchild Aiden Slinker; a brother Jim (Pam) Slinker of Seymour; as well as a sister Shirley Kenner of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Eva on May 24, 2017; brothers Don Slinker, Gary Slinker, and Bob Slinker; as well as sisters Juanita Rose, Barbara Jacobs, and Martha Manco. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Roudebush VA Medical Center thru the funeral home.
