Joshua James Chaplin

Joshua James Chaplin, 43, of Columbus, passed away January 16, 2020 in Indianapolis. Joshua was born February 25, 1976 in Columbus, the son of Dennis and Debra Chaplin. He loved his dogs, and appreciated the beauty of nature on long walks, riding his Harley – Davidson motorcycle, hunting, and working outside. Joshua cherished spending time with his children, whom he loved very much. He is survived by his parents Dennis James (Janice L.) Chaplin of Columbus and Debra Jaynes (Larry E.) Stanfield of Elizabethtown; his children Tristen Allen Chaplin of North Vernon, Sierra (Alex Ray) Lawson of Columbus, Austin Nancy Cheever of Columbus, and Hailey Sue Chaplin of Indianapolis; brothers Chris and Kurtis Chaplin of Columbus, Justin (Mhairi) Clason of Columbus, and Aaron (Lauren) Clason of Pittsboro, Indiana; as well as his sisters Suzie Chaplin of Columbus, Melissa (Mike) Harvey of Indianapolis, and Lindsey (Dustin) Voelker of Columbus. Joshua was excited to meet his expected granddaughter, Nova, who is planning on arriving in April. Joshua was preceded in death by his grandparents James and Dorothy Chaplin, as well as Charles and Carol Jaynes. The funeral will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2020 at the Jewell – Rittman Family Funeral Home. Calling will be from 5:00 p.m. until time of services Thursday. In keeping with Joshua’s wishes, a cremation is planned. Memorials may be made to Love Chapel.
