Rosalie E. Tarnow, 81, of Columbus, passed away at 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Columbus Regional Hospital. Mrs. Tarnow was born to Wilbur A. Elliott and Esther Adams Elliott on September 10, 1938 in Indianapolis. Rosalie married James A. Tarnow on August 24, 1979. She and her husband moved to Pinehurst, NC in 1994, but returned to Columbus, IN in 2007 to be closer to family. Rosalie became very active in the Alzheimer’s Association and served on the Advisory Council and the Speaker’s Bureau. She had been asked to join the board of Just Friends Care Center in 2013. Survivors include her son, Ron (Rhonda) Poe; daughters, Amy (Wayne LaRue) Steelman and Gail (Yancy) Laubsch; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; stepson, Jeffrey (Sue) Tarnow; stepdaughter, Deborah (James) Nolen and her sister, Mrs. Marjorie (Fred) Behning of NC Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James A Tarnow on December 6, 2009. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Calling will be from 11 a.m. until service time on Thursday. Inurnment will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society and Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
