Charles A. Toms
June 6, 1966 ~ February 2, 2020
Charles A. Toms III, 53, of Columbus, entered into Heaven at 3:30 p.m. February 2, 2020, at his home.
Charlie was born June 6, 1966, in Indianapolis, the son of Charles A. Toms II and Sharon K. Spradlin Toms. He married Myriam A. Rivera on January 14, 1989.
He was a member of First Christian Church, a U.S. Army Veteran, and was employed at Mactac for many years.
Charlie loved to fish, enjoyed music, and working on his lawn, especially maintaining his "good lookin' yard". He loved spending time with his family. He was often found at his grill, cooking for relatives he invited over to his house.
Charlie cherished the time he spent with his dad, often taking him to various construction projects Charlie was working at. Most of all, Charlie was especially proud of his title... "papaw".
The funeral will be conducted at noon Friday, February 7, 2020, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with D.J. Butcher officiating. Calling will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service Friday. Interment will be at Garland Brook Cemetery with military honors presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society in honor of Charles.
Survivors include his parents, Charles A. Toms II and Sharon K. Toms of Greenwood; wife, Myriam; daughters, Myriam A. (Joshua) Burton, Carla K. (Ayden) Beasley and Alexandria J. Conner, all of Columbus; a sister, Sherry K. (William) Jackson of Anderson; and grandchildren, Layne, Jaylyn, Skylar, Thorin, Lyman, Jaxson, Willow and Patrick.
