Guestbook

    • Robbie was such a great man. He had a heart of gold. Very proud to have worked with him. He was my Sergeant, Training Officer and friend. I was even able to help him with the Christmas Dinners he made at the Church! You will be deeply missed! Thank you for your Dedicated Years of Service! Until we meet again my friend!!!

    • I am very sorry to hear of Robbie’s death. I worked with Robbie at the Bartholomew Co. Sheriff’s Dept. for many years. He had a heart of gold! I know he will be sadly missed by many! I hope the family can find some comfort and peace in knowing others care and are keeping all of you in their thoughts and prayers! Always cherish your wonderful memories! RIP Dear Friend!

    • I knew Robbie from the Bartholomew Co sheriff dept. Seems like a very long time ago. His was a very good deputy and will be missed. Bless all

  1. So sad to hear of this. Please know that my family is lifting you all up in prayer at this most difficult time. Growing up Robbie was such a big part of my life. I can remember many times of adventure riding along in his sheriffs car as we were in route to meet my dad. Sometimes more faster than others😉. He was so kind hearted and generous. Always giving everything to any cause or person he had the opportunity to impact. I fondly remember him referring to my parents as “Mom and Dad”. Robbie was there for me when they died many years ago and his compassion and comfort will always have a special place in my heart. He was giant among men, one of the most tender hearted people you could ever hope to know, a devoted father, and a great friend. I’ll miss you Robbie.

    Matt McKinney

  2. Robbie was truly one of a kind! He would help anyone at any time. Many years ago when I was scoutmaster, Robbie’s two boys Jeremy and Chris were in the troop. When we went on hikes, weekend campouts and summer camps, Robbie was always there willing to help drive, be the second or third adult present at outings and help in any and every way numerous times for the troop. Years later after his boys and my boys aged into adults, whenever I infrequently saw Robbie he would always ask about my sons and how and what they were doing. Robbie was such a caring person and will be missed by all who knew him. Time to rest big fellow!

  3. My heart goes out to Jeremy and his family. I knew his father growing up and going through the Explorer Scout program at the Sheriff’s Department. I always admired and had a lot of respect for Deputy Amos. He taught me a lot about law enforcement. He was a great man! God bless the family during this difficult time.

  4. I am so very heart-broken. My prayers are with his family, friends, and fellow L.E.O. during this time.

For those that do not know my connection to Robbie, my uncle, Jim McKinney, was the Sheriff of Bartholomew County that hired Robbie as a deputy so many years ago. Robbie was such a sweet, loveable, fun guy and he was like an extra uncle to my cousin and me since we both grew up spending countless hours at the Old L.E.B. and around the deputies of the B.C.S.D. for most of our childhood. Robbie was there for both Matt and me after one of the worst times in my entire life – the tragic deaths of Jim and Nancy. It was a TRUE honor to ride with Robbie in the procession to the cemetary and hear the final dispatches for Jim and Nancy. He was such a comfort when I needed one the most. That’s what Robbie ALWAYS did – he gave of himself to help his brothers and sisters in a time of need. There is no doubt in my mind that he would give you the shirt off his back even if it was the last shirt he owned.

Robbie was one to occasionally push the line when it came to playing by the rules – and that was just another special part of who Robbie was and what made him so special. Regardless, there was no one I’ve ever met with a bigger heart than Robbie Amos. In fact, when I was VERY young, I had the honor and privilege of being the ring-bearer at his first wedding which I still remember to this day. I’m sure Robbie is somewhere causing mischief and brightening others with his infectious smile and HUGE heart.

Rest well my friend. You will be sorely missed as you give your final 10-42.

    Fondly,

    Brian Lane

  5. Our hearts and prayers are with your entire family during this extremely difficult time. My husband and I both grew up with Nikki and I briefly worked with her older brother as well while building sets on stage crew. I cant begin to imagine your sadness but we will be praying for your family today and in the coming days. With much love, Eric and Tara VanEst

  6. Knew Robby from childhood in Edinburgh and then as a fellow Deputy Sheriff. Great man and friend. Will be missed. He was always a joy to be around and could always make you smile.
Former Johnson Co. Sheriff and retired deputy Tom Pritchard and Retired Deputy Sheriff and Former Edinburgh Assistant Chief of Police Connie Pritchard

  7. I was honored to have served with Rob at Camp Atterbury for a number of years where he served as one of our unit cooks. He was always a gentleman and pleasant to work with, As a now retired Marion Co. Deputy we often discussed law enforcement and told tall tales of our escapades. He will definitely be missed by all who knew him. I seem to recall some referring to him… respectfully… as Teddy Bear. Rest in Peace you’ve served your time here well.

  8. so sorry for the loss of good friend of our family , the nicest guy who went out of his way to help others !

    • My heart hurts for Jackie, Sandy, Debbie and Connie and Robbie’s entire family! My parents, my brothers and myself were very close family friends to all of the Amoses as we grew up together. Robbie was like another brother to me. I am so very sad! I am certain Rob has reunited with Anne and Dale Amos, his dear parents, once again. Fly high, Robbie, on angels wings. Love, Pat Kail Hecox

    • My mother, Marilyn Kail, has asked me to reach out to the family through this comment. Her heart is so very saddened by the loss of Robbie. She too would love to connect to one of the Amos sisters by phone at
      317-873-1875. Pat (Kail) Hecox

  9. Robbie was such a great man.

  10. Robbie was a very good friend to all. His love and passion was law enforcement. As a deputy he served his community with great dedication and selfless sacrifice. He was always an officer and a gentleman. With his passing Heaven has gained a dedicated officer to help watch over heaven and earth to help right any injustices that he sees. Robbie will truly be missed but more importantly remembered for the person he was as a friend and law enforcement officer he was.
Are deepest smpthy to the Amos family.
    REST IN PEACE
    DEPUTY ROBBIE AMOS

    Stewart and family

  11. The family of Richard Broadwater would like to extend our condolences to Robbie’s family. RIchard was a Special deputy with the Bartholomew County Sheriffs Dept back many years ago and had some very fond memories of Robbie. RIchard passed away many months ago. May they both Rest In Peace.

  12. I met Robbie when I served as a Special Deputy, many years ago. While it has been about 38 years, since I last saw Robbie, the memories are still strong and good. Rob, defined dedication, when it came to serving others. A normal work schedule was not important to him. Anytime there was a need, he was there to help and sharing his many talents – 24/7/365. As Brian Lane noted, Robbie could “push the line…”. I agree, and usually witnessed it when there was a need to get the something done, in a timely manner and for the right reasons.
The community has lost a wonderful person. Rest in peace, my friend. And may peace and comfort be with Robbie’s family and friends.

    Chuck Luse

  14. It’s hard to believe your gone! You were a very good and respectful friend to my Dad. Now your up in heaven with him and Mom. (Robert D. Miller and Wanda K. Miller) Robbie, my Dad always told me if I needed any help that you were one of the people I could go to and talk to about it. I recall you and Ray Simms coming to help me once when my Dad called because I got in between a man and a woman to stop the man from doing something stupid because he was drunk and wanted his keys. She wouldn’t let him have them and he was threating her. I had been at that house for a Halloween party and was leaving with my girls when the woman’s 2 girls came out saying…he’s going to hurt my mommy! Well, I got out and went in and got between them. So, he cracked my jaw instead! I called Dad and I could hardly talk, he was having trouble understanding me. Dad called you and that’s when 2 of the finest sheriff’s come to my rescue! You will be greatly missed my friend! I’ve listened to your wife’s story online and it broke my heart! God bless her heart! I could feel her hurt, sadness, pain and grief! May God comfort them threw all this. Good Bye My Friend.
