Phyllis Jean Mouser, 92, of 25th Street, died at 12:50 p.m. June 4, 2020, at her home. Phyllis was born July 30, 1927, in Columbus, the daughter of John R. and Sarah E. Bolander Crippen. She married Lelon Mouser December 7, 1953, and he preceded her in death May 19, 2013. She was a 1945 graduate of Columbus High School where she was very active in sports, excelling in basketball, volleyball and swimming. After graduation she worked for Public Service Company of Indiana and eventually retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1985. Phyllis was a member of East Columbus Christian Church, Senior Center, Silver Tones Choir, former member of Extension Chords, and Homecraft Home Extension Club. She was secretary of the Cummins C.R.E.A.K. club. Phyllis enjoyed taking part in singing in church choirs and individual groups. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She followed Columbus East sports, Indiana and Purdue basketball, Cincinnati Reds baseball, and Indianapolis Colts football. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2020, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Ron Bridgewater officiating. Calling will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in memory of Phyllis. Survivors include her children, Sally Jo (Kerry) Thompson of San Diego, California, Roger L. (Rebecca) Mouser of Columbus, Kelli Jean Mouser of Bloomington and Jill E. (Kenneth) Seale of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Sarah Ross, Travis Mouser, Halie Hayes, Ryan Seale, Aaron Seale, Emily Seale, Brian Thompson, Alison Kuhn, Amy Duncan and Cory Duncan; and great-grandchildren, Molly Roberts, Ryleigh Ross, Joseph Ross, Lucy Ross, Nora Duncan, Nickolas Duncan, Brielle Mouser, Lincoln Mouser, Holden Seale, Reagan Mouser, Bristol Seale, Jonathan Thompson, Stephen Kuhn, Oliver Seale, Emerson Seale, and Andrew Thompson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lelon; brothers, Wayne Crippen and Dean Crippen; and sisters, Thelma Enochs and Maryleen Collins.

  4. My best memories of Aunt Phyllis and Uncle Lelon come from the reunions we had at their house when we were younger. Playing in the creek in the back. Loved spending time their.   5. So sorry to hear of Phyllis’s passing…such fun memories I had with her singing in the Extension Chords. She was always smiling and laughing and so much fun to be with! Prayers to her family for comfort and peace. God Bless.
