Patricia Lewis

Patricia Roszczyk Lewis, 68, of Columbus, Indiana, died peacefully at Columbus Regional Hospital on June 9, 2020, surrounded by her family. Patty was born February 24, 1952, in Steubenville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Albert and Laura Michalik Roszczyk. She graduated from Steubenville High School in 1970 and attended Steubenville College, now Franciscan University of Steubenville. She went to work at the Steubenville Herald Star at the circulation desk and then at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel as a turn supervisor in the data processing department. The granddaughter of Polish immigrants, one of Patty’s enduring interests was her heritage, and she especially enjoyed cooking Polish-American cuisine for her family. A lifelong Steelers fan and an avid dog lover, Patty rarely missed an opportunity to reminisce about her parents and grandparents, whom she missed for many years. Patty gave birth to her only daughter, Kristin, in 1977. After her divorce, she began a career at Sears & Robuk in the Ft. Steuben Mall, where she worked for many years and met her now husband, Robert “Bob” Lewis. Patty and Bob married in 2002 and moved to Columbus, Indiana, in 2008 to be close to family, including her daughter and brother. Patty was employed by the Bartholomew County School Corporation, where she worked as a bus driver, then as a route scheduler, and was blessed with a loving work family. Patty found much fulfilment in her career, but nothing compared to her love for her family, especially her grandson. She is survived by her husband, Bob Lewis; daughter, Kristin (Jon) Crawford; adoring grandson, Cooper Crawford; brother, Al (Susan) Roszczyk; nieces, Sara (Eric) Cave and Erin (Nathan) Laswell; and many friends at the BCSC transportation department. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is enjoying paradise with her parents and family who have gone before her and wishes her peace and rest until they are reunited for eternity. Family and friends are invited to share in a celebration of life for Patty at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2020, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Columbus, Indiana, with Father Chris Wadelton officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Face masks will be required to attend. Flowers are welcome, and donations may be made to the Salvation Army, which Patty especially admired for their dedication in WWII, in which her father served. Patty’s family is especially thankful for the skilled team at Columbus Regional Hospital for their care, for Patty’s thoughtful and compassionate friends at BCSC, and for all those who have prayed for Patty in this last week.
