Paul E.” PJ” Newton, Jr., age 47, of Columbus, passed away Friday July 17, 2020 at 3:02 a.m. at his home. He was born April 22, 1973 in Columbus to Paul E. Newton, Sr. and Evelyn Marie (Kellems) Newton. PJ was employed as a tow truck driver for KLM Car and Truck and was a member of the Eagles Lodge. PJ was an outdoors type person. He enjoyed fishing, trail riding on his UTV and spending time with family and friends cooking out. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday July 21, 2020 in Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Oliver officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Garland Brook Cemetery. Friends are invited to a time of visitation on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of PJ may be made to Main Street Hospice of Franklin. PJ is survived by his wife, Lisa C. (Arnold) Newton, whom he married May 28, 1998, his mother Evelyn; 3 brothers, James (Becky) Carmer, Braxton (Leah) Newton and Evan S. Newton and a sister Gail Wallace as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul E.   1. Oh I loved this guy!!! As a little boy, I was his first public school teacher in Kdg at Van Buren. PJ was quiet and liked by all his classmates. He was such a sweet kiddo and such a good guy. I’m so sorry to his mom, Braxton, Gail, Evan and all the family. Lucy (Snider) McGrayel
