Barbara L. Nienaber, 77, of Elizabethtown, IN passed away at 7:45 a.m. Sunday, January 31, 2021 at her home. Barbara was born on June 12, 1943 in Columbus, IN to Arthur F. Andis and Ruth Todd Andis. She married Carl William Nienaber Jr. on June 13, 1970. Barbara retired as a bank teller and as owner and operator of County Liquors. She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2021 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church-Clifty with Pastor Douglas Bauman officiating. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday at the church. Private Inurnment will be at a later date in the St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery. Survivors include her sons, Thomas (Angela) Nienaber of Elizabethtown, Mark (Carleta) Nienaber of Jonesville, Daniel (Angie Broughton) Nienaber of Elizabethtown and David (Stephanie) Nienaber of Elizabethtown; a daughter, Lana Jo (Frank) Wolka of Vallonia; sisters, Carolyn Wilkerson of Columbus, Nelma (James) Fritsche of Hartsville, IN, Lois Anderson of Noblesville, IN, Rebecca (Scott) Patton of Tuscola, IL; grandchildren, Stephanie (John) Cole, Autumn Nienaber, Thomas (Emily) Nienaber, Clint (Ashley) Wolka, Cody (April) Wolka, Kordell (Dakota) Nienaber, Zane Nienaber, Holly Nienaber, Samuel Nienaber and Austin (Bre) Nienaber; great grandchildren, Cora Nienaber, William Courson, Sawyer Stearley, Sydney Stearley, Addyson Cole, Jordon Cole, Easton Cole, Cooper Wolka, Teighan Wolka, Drake Wolka, Waylon Wolka, Ridge Wolka, River Nienaber and Merrick Nienaber. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; Arthur F. Andis and Ruth Andis; husband, Carl William Nienaber Jr. on October 19, 2019; a brother, Arthur F. Andis Jr.; great granddaughter, Alyce Nienaber Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church or St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church Early Education Fund. Arrangements are entrusted to Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Due to the new mandate limiting gatherings to 50 people, visitors are required to wear face masks and maintain social distancing. We encourage you to share your support with the family, being cognizant that others wish to do the same. You may be asked to wait outside the building as we comply with this mandate. Friends and family are encouraged to visit the church website: stpaulcolumbus.org at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 5th to view a live stream of Barbara’s funeral service.

  4. I worked with Barb for over 5 years at Lowe’s (as well as her brother Art who passed away quite some time ago) and she was always such a bright light. I loved her company and she was just such an awesome lady. My sincerest condolences to her friends and family.
