Betty Zeola Lane

Betty Zeola Lane, 90, of Columbus, passed away June 5, 2021, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Betty was born September 30, 1930 in Columbus, the daughter of Frank and Pearl J. Myers Rathsman. On October 5, 1951, she married her beloved husband, Harold Edwin “Skeeter” Lane.
Betty was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church and a proud, life long resident of East Columbus. She enjoyed listening to audiobooks, traveling, and gambling, especially on slot machines. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty retired from the Human Resource Department at Columbus Regional Hospital after 25, years of service.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday June 9, 2021 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Jewell - Rittman Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemtery.
Memorials may be made to the Indiana Talking Book and Braille Library (140 N. Senate Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46204) or to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Betty is survived by her children Michael J. (Jackie) Lane, Mark F. Lane, and Jeannette (Gordon) Merrill all of Columbus; grandchildren Natalie (Ben) Donner, Christopher (Valerie) Lane, Harrison (RuthAnn) Lane, Sarah (Cliff Nelson) Kreitzer, and Matthew (Kelly) Kreitzer; as well as 9 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband Skeeter on August 18, 2006; two sisters Barbara Hatchett and Nan Barkes; as well as a great-grandson.

I have a lifetime of very special memories of Aunt Betty and Uncle Putt. They made my life so special. She will be missed so very much. She will either be gambling.or baking some of her delicious peach cobblers. God is going to have his hands full.

Each time we were in Indiana, we visited Betty. Bill (Johnny Bill) shared pictures and many family memories before he passed in 2019. Rest in peace Betty. Our love to the family.
