Constance "Connie" Gehrt

Constance “Connie” Gehrt, 89, of Columbus, passed away on Sunday July 4, 2021 at Willow Crossing. Connie was born on March 27, 1932 in Bloomington, Illinois to the late Cletus and Mildred (Milam) Moore. She married Ray Byron Gehrt on April 19, 1953, and he preceded her in death on April 3, 2020. She was a long-time member of First Christian Church. Connie was previously employed at State Farm Insurance and a flower shop in Bloomington, Illinois. She volunteered at the visitor’s center and First Christian Church for several years and parent teacher organizations. She was a homemaker who loved to cook for family and friends. Her hobbies were reading autobiographies and mystery novels, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles and she was an avid bowler. A private family service will be held at Garland Brook Cemetery with Steve Yeaton officiating. Survivors include her daughters, Betsy Gehrt of Columbus and Susan (Brad) Criswell of Columbus; sister, Karen Cline of Jonesboro, Arkansas; grandchildren, Tyler (Kelsea) Criswell of Loveland, OH, Sarah (Scott Overmyer) Criswell of Portland, OR, Aaron Barger of Columbus and Byron Barger of Columbus as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. Connie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ray and a son, Jeff Gehrt. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church Tower Fund through First Christian Church, 531 5th St. Columbus, IN 47201.
