Lola Fern King Isley, 89, of Columbus, went to her Heavenly home on August 28, 2021. Anyone who knew her, knew of her love for cooking. She was born June 2, 1932 to Florida and Walter Gill. She married Melvin W. King June 10, 1950. Lola is survived by her sons Melvin L. (Charlotte) King of Muse, Florida, David W. (Terri) King, daughters Susan D. Robertson, Joni G. (Larry) Hurt, and Lori A. Anderson all of Columbus, Indiana. Also surviving are grandchildren Amanda S. (Dan) Wood of Greenwood, Amy J. (Brent) Fox, Jeremy D. King both of Carmel, Ryan L. King of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Chris W. King, Katie L. King, Logan W. (Crystal) Anderson, James K. (Amy Sciutto) Anderson all of Columbus; fifteen great-grandchildren; a sister Rebecca K. (Mike) Schaefer of Morrison, Colorado; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Lola was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mel, a grandson Jordan M. King and great-grandson Wyatt J. King, as well as siblings Gary Gill, David Gill, Rita Hall, and Lois Leszcynski. In keeping with Lola’s wishes there will be no services. Cremation is planned and she will be laid to rest with her husband Melvin. The Jewell - Rittman Family Funeral Home is serving the family.   1. I’m so saddened to hear of Fern’s passing. Condolences to her 5 children. She was a lovely lady and always so good to me. I could never refuse her homemade breads. They were the best! 💔

  3. I am very sorry for your loss. I have been doing Lola’s hair for many years. including coming over to her apartment.
    I always enjoyed hearing Lola talk about her family she so enjoyed trying to find different recipes to make.I know she is Heaven and free of pain. My thoughts and prays are with you all.

  5. Mel, David, Susan, Joni, Lori & families….Sending condolences & prayers to all of you. I have many memories of Aunt Lola over the years & especially of her loving relationship with mom. They were more sisters than sisters-in-law. I rejoice in the fact that there are many happy reunions happening in Heaven right now! Find comfort in your memories. She will be greatly missed. Elise
