Paula Leigh Capps

Paula Leigh Capps, 62, of Columbus, died at 12:10 a.m, September 22, 2021, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Paula was born November 11, 1958 in Columbus, the daughter of Paul and Delores (Johnson) Pattingill. She married Mark Capps on January 8, 1982. He survives. A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Stan Loutner officiating. Calling will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Paula was a graduate of Columbus East. Paula studied nursing at Olivet Nazarene University. She attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Columbus. Paula loved to travel to the beach and cruise the Caribbean. Her grandchildren meant the world to her. The youngest grandchild pronounced her name as Mamaw Poola. Now, the rest of the grandchildren lovingly refer to her as Mamaw Poola as well. A wonderful wife, devoted friend and mother, Paula will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorials may be made to Riley’s Children’s Hospital through the funeral home. Survivors include her husband, a son, Phillip (Sandra) Capps of Columbus; daughters, Rachel Busby and Julia Capps, both of Columbus; brothers, Wayne Pattingill, of Michigan, Steve Pattingill and Justin Pattingill, both of Columbus; a sister, Mary Francis Hobbs, of Kansas; a brother-in-law, John (Vicki) Capps, of Columbus; and 12 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services were entrusted to the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
