January 4, 1957 ~ September 30, 2021

Don A. Christenberry, 64 of Columbus died September 30, 2021 at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born on January 4, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois to Chester Leroy Christenberry and Marbelle (Chambers) Christenberry. He attended college and worked in maintenance most of his life. He was a skilled handyman, often taking on improvement projects around the house. He never seemed to run out of projects, but he sometimes took time to enjoy hobbies, tinker with clocks and spend time in his man cave. He would always say “What happens in the garage, stays in the garage.” He met his loving wife, Jennifer Staves while on vacation in Florida in April of 2000. They returned together to Columbus and married in October of that same year. They have been inseparable ever since, working together for 10 years at a cleaning company. Don said he always enjoyed working, he was considered an excellent cook and gardener, with the motto: “I’ll plant it, you can it.” Services for Mr. Christenberry will be 7 p.m. Friday, October 8, 2021 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Derek Carpenter officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. prior to the funeral. You are invited to view Don’s video tribute, light a virtual candle and send a message to the family via the funeral home website.

Guestbook

  1. Not mentioned here is the fact he had 5 children, 12 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. He leaves behind two brothers and several nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by both parents and 4 siblings

  2. Don was larger than life and I just can’t wrap my head around him being gone.
I’ll always remember our late night dialogue about what the neighbors had done not done etc. It was always hilarious. Then he got sick and the light dimmed a bit but only for a while.
He had an indomitable spirit and wherever he is the great beyond I guarantee he is laughing at you or me.
He is at peace where the pain and suffering can’t bother him now.
My deepest condolences go out to Michael, and Nikki, and Chester and Donnie. And the extended family of grand children and great grandchildren.
it hurts now but try to remember the good times, celebrate Dons’ life, his spirit and his fire.
Because I’m sure he is looking down on us all and laughing …….REST IN PEACE

  3. This man was not only my best friend but a father to me. Losing him is like losing part of myself. My heart is broke. Today will be eched in my mind for the rest of my life. To say the least I love this man. Rest in peace, old man.

  4. When my own father died my uncle took me in and was there for me and I will never forget the times with him and now his pain and suffering is at ease . I will never forget my uncle ! I will miss you and always love you . RIP Uncle Don
