Jill Renae Shepherd, 63, of Columbus, died at 10:40 a.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at Silver Oaks. Jill was born April 20, 1958 in Columbus, the daughter of William S. and Julie L. (Minton) Bowling. She married Vernon Everett Shepherd on August 27, 1977. Jill graduated from Columbus East in 1977. She met the love of her life in the second grade, Everett Shepherd. They were married 44 years. Jill absolutely loved the Great Smokey Mountains and would go there over any other vacation place. She was a lady of many talents. She could make a few dollars, go a long distance. Jill enjoyed crafts, frogs, sewing, crocheting and cooking. Her specialty was her chicken and dumplings. She will be remembered for being the most unselfish woman to her family, often spending her money on them before her own needs. A loving wife and Mimi, she will be greatly missed. The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Dale Lucas officiating. Calling will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. November 29, 2021 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be at Daugherty Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation through the funeral home. Survivors include her husband, Everett; daughters, Angela (Tim) Vaughan, of Columbus, Rebekah (Jon) Alexander, Morgantown, KY., and Hannah Amos, of Columbus; sisters, Dana Gail (Lynn) Hardy, Scottsburg, IN., and Billie (Jim) Richardson, Seymour, Indiana; grandchildren, Hoytt Kingery, Breanna (Cody) Tomes, Evan Martin, Janae Martin, Shelby Alexander, Chase Vaughan, Blake Alexander, Lilly Martin, Alyssa Vaughan, Gracie Alexander and Maggie Amos; great grandchildren, Daxton Tomes and one on the way, Ronin Wade Tomes. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandchild, Merrick William Martin in 2007. Services were entrusted to the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
