Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. You have always been my 2nd Dad and always will be. I have so many memories it’s hard to decide on a to pick 1 favorite. However 1of my favorite memory will always be that when I was going through he worst time of my life. You told everyone I could live with Debi and you. You didn’t care who knew I was your 2nd daughter. Then there was the time you wrecked your car coming to get me while jamming to OLD TIME ROCK & ROLL. However after taking care of that we all still celebrated my birthday like it was a normal day. I love you Dad and will always miss you.

    • Gary was a dependable soldier. He knew Camp Atterbury well. One could always count on him when one needed help. When ISU at Camp Atterbury were put on title 10, Gary became The MP Desk Sergeant and done an excellent job. Gary was a Vietnam Veteran, I appreciated his dedication to our mission. Thank you Gary for your service to our great country and to the Indiana Army National Guard.
To the family, I am sorry I will not be able to attend Gary’s service due to being out of state. Gary will be missed.

    • Gary was an incredible soldier, person, mentor and friend. He left his imprint on everyone he came across. His giving heart was witnessed in every aspect of his life and those he came into contact with. We accomplished so much together during our time at Camp Atterbury. Serving with Gary was an honor and an invaluable memory during my 22 years of service. Will miss you brother! SFC (RET) Todd McCauley

  2. I was proud to have worked with Gary as an MP at Camp atterbury back in the early to mid-1990’s. He was always a hard worker and could be depended upon when needed. Rest well, you’ve earned it.

  3. Gary worked for me at Camp Atterbury for many years. As the Personnel Director and responsible for post security, Gary would always be available to cover any details to ensure the safety and security of the troops and the installation. He was a soldier I could count on to carry out the mission with little to no supervision. I will miss him greatly. Jim Coleman

  4. It was such a great pleasure to work with Gary in the Indians National Guard, Gary and I would talk about our time in Vietnam and share books. Respect, Honor, Tribute, Slow Hand Salute R.I.P Brother.

  5. Gary was one of the first soldiers I met when I joined the Indiana National Guard. He was a great mentor, and soldier. Coming from active duty Marine Corps to Army Guard, I kind of had a little adjusting to do, and any time I had a question or needed some guidance, I knew I could always ask Gary. He was always available for anything that come up, and willing to help anyone.
Rest In Peace Gary. You will be greatly missed by so many.

  6. HAVENT SEEN GARY FOR YEARS BUT IF HE WOULD HAVE CALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NITE I WOULD HAVE BEEN THERE…WE SPENT ALOT OF TIME TOGETHER IN THE MILITARY..SALUTE

  7. A great family man and soldier. I am blessed to have served with him at Camp Atterbury. Thank you Gary for being my friend.

    • So sorry for the loss to your family! Had known Gary since the early 80’s. He was a loving man and so full of life. Debi I remember when I lost my father and there is so much trauma and pain! Please know I am here if ever you want to talk for any reason. I love you!!!

    • I worked with Gary at Arvin, as well at Camp Atterbury. We were close friends. When I first started working at Arvin, I didn’t have a dime to my name, and Gary shared his lunch with me. I’ll never forget that. I pray that he is rejoicing with Jesus now. We ALL need someone like Gary in our lives.

    • Having a friend like Gary was an amazing experience. I really don’t remember the exact day l met Gary and Debi. The only thing I can say is they have always been a part of my life. I will miss him very much.

  8. Gary was a great friend well known by all at Atterbury. He was a great friend to have.
He and Art are deeply missed.
