Roger Leland Ramey, 76, of Hope, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Friday January 7, 2022 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. He was born November 28, 1945 in Lynch, Kentucky to the late James Earl and Colleen Ramey. Roger was a gentle giant. He was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman. He represented the State of Indiana in Bass Masters National Competitions. He attended Berea College where he majored in history and held the record for the long jump for many years. Roger retired from Cummins Engine Company after 35 years of service. He began working on the floor and became Union President and finished his career in labor relations. He was a member of the Dupont Masonic Lodge F & A M # 419 for 44 years. Roger is survived by his daughter, Stacie (Andrew) Vaughan of Hope; sisters, Sandra (Billy) Cook of The Villages, FL and Kaye (Lee) Crenshaw of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Carson (Melissa) McCalip, Bailee (Nicholas) Chapman, Nick Vaughan, Nate Vaughan, Logan Fletcher and a great grandchild, Zane McCalip. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Brent Ramey and a sister Robin O’Dell. Roger wanted everyone to remember him as he was. A mountain memorial service will be held at a later date in Harlan County Kentucky. Arrangements were entrusted to the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. The family would like to extend a thank you to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana and encourage memorial contributions be made to this wonderful organization in memory of Roger.   2. Roger was a life long friend, i knew him bedore cummins. And worked with him at cummins for years, a true friend and great person. I was with him on his last day at Cummins. Talked with him every now and then on the phone, a great guy, i will miss his friendship
