David "Rusty" Fredericksen
October 18, 1940 ~ July 14, 2022
David E. “Rusty” Fredericksen, Sr., of Columbus, passed away Thursday morning July 14, 2022 at his home. He was born October 18, 1940 in Muskegon, Michigan to the late Christian Edward Fredericksen and Jeanne (Martin) Fredericksen.
Rusty was a man of few words. His friend once said if you travel with Rusty, you should have a radio. He was an early riser who enjoyed his friends over coffee. Rusty served his country in the U. S. Air Force from 1957 to 1961. He was employed by the CWC Foundry in Muskegon, Michigan where he worked his way up. He then transferred to the Golden Foundry where he worked as a casting Engineer until his retirement. Rusty enjoyed golf, spending the winters in Tavares, Florida, and traveling the U. S. especially the west coast. He loved his dog, Brutus.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Swanson) Fredericksen whom he married on December 30, 1970; 6 sons, Rodney (Kelly) Fredericksen, Mark Donohue, Mike Donohue, David (Jeanna) Fredericksen, Jr., Eric (Cecelia) Fredericksen and Daylan (Elyssa) Barnard; 2 daughters, Joan (Bruce) Armstrong and Christine Griggs; 3 brothers, John, Tom, and Marty; 6 sisters, Joan, Marilyn, Christine, Annie, Debbie, and Jeannie;14 grandchildren, Felicia Donohue, Clint Clark, Brianna Armstrong, Sierra Armstrong, Kelsey Fredericksen, Jeremy Fredericksen, Christian Fredericksen, Abigail Fredericksen, Bella Fredericksen, Locklyn Hutchison, Edison Fredericksen, Ashley Barnard, Alexis Barnard, Ella Barnard, Sophia Barnard, and Olivia Barnard and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
No services are scheduled at this time. He will be laid to rest in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana at a later date with military honors. I am so sorry to hear Rusty has passed. He and Terry enjoyed each others company during the time we lived at Fishermans Cove. They both loved to fish. My heart goes out to Mary and family.
I have many years of fond memories of Rusty. He and Dad and their friendship and shenanigans. Rusty Mary and family you were just like a part of our family for so long. All my thoughts and prayers go out to all of you at such a difficult time. Hold tight to your love and memories. I hope he and Dad are catching up in heaven ❤️🙏
