Kirby Wayne Bruce, 49, of Columbus, IN passed away with family by his side Friday, July 15, 2022, at Our Hospice Inpatient Facility. Kirby was born on January 23, 1973, in Lawrenceburg, IN to James and Geneva Burns Bruce. He married Deborah Mitchell-Brumley on June 28, 1996, and they just celebrated 26 wonderful years together. Kirby was mainly a drywall finisher but held several different factory jobs throughout his life. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Columbus and was baptized prior to his sickness. He enjoyed fishing, playing video games, and cheering on the Indiana Pacers and the Indianapolis Colts. Those left to cherish and remember his legacy include his loving wife and best friend, Deborah; his son, Joshua Bruce of Columbus; and daughters Jennifer “Nikki” (Ron) Malott of Columbus and Megan (Jake) Rogers of Batesville; brothers, Randy Bruce of Cincinnati, OH., Russell (Karen) Bruce of Harrison, OH., and Larry Bruce of West Harrison, IN., his grandchildren, Damian and Dominick Malott, and Hailey, Aubrey, and Coby Rogers; mother-in-law, Carole Sheldon of Lawrenceburg, IN., father-in-law Larry (Joan) Mitchell of Crittenden, KY; brother-in-law Daniel (Lisa) Mitchell of West Harrison, IN., sister-in-law Katherine (Stuart) Ramsey of Sparta, KY; and several other extended family members. Kirby was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law James Mitchell of Columbus, IN. The family wishes to thank the staff at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana for their wonderful care and support throughout this journey. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held following visitation at 1:00 p.m. with Paster Tyler Tolbert officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements have been entrusted to Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
