Helen Day

Helen Day, 90, of Columbus, died at 4:59 a.m., August 25, 2022, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Helen was born August 1, 1932, in Polk County, Missouri, the daughter of Frank and Mary Sanders Taylor. She married Charles William Day. He preceded her in death on October 2, 1990. Helen enjoyed playing board games with her favorite being the game, Sorry. She enjoyed entertaining her friends by often having them in her home. Helen was a lifelong homemaker with many talents. She loved what some would call the OLD WAY of living. Helen lived simply by cooking every meal, raising a garden, and canning. In past years you could find her at the local McDonald’s every morning enjoying coffee with friends. It was very important to Helen to have fellowship with her friends. A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Helen will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Garland Brook Cemetery with Pastor Matthew Johnson officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association through the funeral home. Survivors include a daughter, Janet (Robert) Bullock of Columbus; granddaughters, Hayley (Jimmy) Roberts of Hope and Lyndsay (Curtis) Burton of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Tanner Walls, Charlie Roberts, Elijah Roberts, Breiana Burton, Camren Burton, and Mason Burton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son, Jerry Day.
