Mary Belle Barr

Mary Belle Barr, 83, of Columbus, passed away at Columbus Regional Hospital on November 5, 2022. She was born on December 12, 1938, to Harley E. Poole and Ruth O. Jolly Poole in Columbus, Indiana and was the spouse of Norman P. Barr, all of which precede her in death.
Mary Belle was a 1956 graduate of Columbus High School, and a long-time member of East Columbus Christian Church where she was a pianist and member of the missions committee. Mary Belle was a teachers aide for Clifty Creek and Fodrea Elementary Schools, and was also a crossing guard for the school system.
Mary Belle is survived by a son, Eddie A. (Vicki) Barr, of Columbus, Indiana; daughter, Janice D. (Bryan) Langford, of Zionsville, Indiana; brother, Ed A. (Kathy) Poole, of San Diego California; grandchildren, Kim (Matt) Johnson, Ben Wever, Nathan Barr, Matthew Barr, and Kyle (Shelby) Langford; and great-grandchildren, Alaina Baker, Cameron Barr, Daniel Johnson, Noah Johnson, Kennedi Wever, and Elnora Barr.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Ruth Poole; spouse, Norman Barr; daughter, Becky Barr; and grandson, Justin Langford.
The funeral service is at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 11, 2022, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Bridgewater officiating. Burial will be at Garland Brook following the service. Visitation is from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial donations to East Columbus Christian Church.

Aunt Marybelle Barr always made us feel happy. She was a happy spirited person and I know her remaining family will have many fond memories of her. She made the world a better place and now she is in a special new home called Heaven. May she rest in peace. Love, Trudy

Brenda and I always appreciated May Belle’s selfless service to the Kingdom of God in general and to East Columbus Christian Church in particular! All her family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers as we travel to East Tennessee on Thursday for the baptism of a grandson this weekend. Again, God’s comfort and blessings to all.
