Janice Arlene Mahoney, 83, of Columbus, passed away on November 28, 2022 at Our Hospice Inpatient Facility in Columbus. Jan was born May 16, 1939, in Dayton, Ohio to the late Thomas Collingsworth and Leona Gebhart. Jan’s greatest joy in life was her great-grandchildren, she spent endless hours crafting, shopping, and bowling with them. Jan was an avid bowler and was inducted into the 2006 Columbus USBC Hall of Fame. She served as the vice president and director of Columbus USBC association and held the office of director, vice president, and president in the now retired women’s association, and was also a member of the Thursday night women’s league for many years. Jan won a family two-some bowling tournament with her great-granddaughter, Isabella. Jan also spent many summers on the Ohio River with her “river rat” friends. Well known for her crafting abilities; she enjoyed making home decorations with her entire family and enjoyed showing off her work at craft shows, especially the 12 Dames of Christmas. Her “top secret” dumpling recipe will be kept for generations to come as they are a favorite to the entire family. Mrs. Mahoney is survived by her daughter Bev (Tony) Corum; two grandchildren; Kylee (Chris) Jones and Jordan (Alexa) Bunch; step-grandchildren; Nick Corum and Chris Corum; eight great-grandchildren, Alexis, Elizabeth, Isabella, Emersyn, Zeke, Silas, E.J., and Jackson. Jan is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family, and life-long friends. Jan is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald in 2006; her daughter, Vicki Fivecoat; her brother, Raymond Collingsworth; sisters, Ruby Linville and Patsy Story and great-grandson Keenan Marcus Jones. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Our Hospice for their care and support. Funeral services will be held at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 2:00 pm with Pastor Dave Burnett officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 12:00 – 2:00. Burial will take place at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery. A live stream will be available for the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made through the Funeral Home to Our Hospice, or the American Lung Association. Arrangements have been entrusted to Jewell – Rittman Family Funeral Home. 2. Mrs. Mahoney, I’ve always called her that out of respect for her. She was beautiful inside and out. Her smile would brighten up a room. She was always pleasant to be be around. Everyone who met her loved her. I ran into her one day and I had the opportunity to let her know I had always thought a lot of her and loved her. We gave each other a hug. Mrs. Mahoney-I will miss you!!

  3. One of the best ladies I have had the pleasure of knowing. She loved her family to the max. Beautiful inside and out. So proud of her family but took no credit for being a part of it. Fly high Jan. Sad I didn’t get to tell you good bye. You were truly a classy woman.

  4. I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of Jan, she was one fine lady. We bowled together for many years. Jan and I share a special memory.. I will always be thankful for her friendship.

  5. My dear cousin. Janice and her sister Pasty would come to my Dad and Mom’s place (her mother and mine were sister) in Minford, OH and stay all summer until school started in the fall. We lived in a log house without electric and running water but they didn’t care. They went to Church every Sunday with me and my sisters and would work in the garden, help pick blackberries, etc. This went on for several years until they got older and then Janice married so that was no more. Later, Dad built a new home and they were still coming for the summer months then. We all loved going to the Scioto County Fair and staying all day. Have precious memories of her being with us when she was young. Rest In Peace Jan and God speed, Betty (McDaniel) Brown

  6. Awesome Video of my cousin Janice Collingsworth Mahoney. Janice spent many summers at my parents house in Minford, OH
