Kevin McLee Leech
March 2, 1965 ~ December 17, 2022
Kevin McLee Leech, 57, of Heltonville, passed away on December 17, 2022, in Monroe County. He was born on March 2, 1965, in Bloomington and married Lisa Bristow on January 12, 1983.
Kevin loved being outdoors and appreciating all the beauty nature provides. He enjoyed camping, and hunting of any kind, all the way from hunting mushrooms to hunting deer. Kevin loved spending time with his numerous friends and was always coming up with reasons to get together, like fish fries or karaoke. Always one to bring a smile to the faces of all that knew him, Kevin was commonly found walking around in his underwear and knee-high white socks. He would often be caught telling “Kevin Leech stories”, which everyone knew they had to filter fact from exaggeration, especially when they caught a shadow of a smile pass across his face. Kevin was also fond of partaking in some of his favorite things, which included “oreors”, what we commonly refer to as “Oreos”, no-bake cookies, and drinking coffee.
The most important thing in Kevin’s life was his family, which included his dog “Boots”, who often accompanied Kevin to most places he went, and his mule “Bugs”, who frequently filled the role of Kevin’s trusty steed as they traveled through the countryside. He loved that, even as she became an adult, his daughter would still climb into her “daddy’s” lap, and he adored his grandchildren. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them. However, none could compare to how he felt about his wife Lisa. She was the light that sparkled in his eyes. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Kevin is survived by his wife Lisa; his daughter Amanda (John) Hardin of Nashville; grandchildren Riley Bills, Erin LeMaster, Rebecca and Alycia Billings, Ty and Lydia Fox, and Jared, Holly, and Shane Kinser; a great-grandchild Jace LeMaster; his father Rick Lazell of Nashville; as well as his brother Jeff (Melody) Leech of Columbus. He was preceded in death by a son Jerimiah Fox, his mother Dianna Terrell Lazell, as well as his grandparents, Lawrence and Ruby Terrell.
The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 26, 2022, at Blackwell Pentecostal Church (9018 S Chapel Hill Rd, Heltonville, IN 47436) with Rev. Dean Manuel officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Saltcreek Cemetery in Monroe County. Memorials may be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
