William Henry Hayes, 78, of Columbus, died at 8:47 p.m. on October 16, 2023 at Franklin Meadows.
William was born February 22, 1945, in Elizabethtown, the son of Henry Welden Hayes and Flossie (Haddix) Hayes George.
He was a forklift driver for Cummins Inc. William was an outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt.
As per Williams’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held at this time. Cremation was chosen.
Survivors include sons, Robert (Jo) Hayes and William E. Hayes; brothers, Eugene Hayes, Daniel Hayes, David Hayes, Alan (Blenda) George, and Kevin George; sisters, Virginia Hayes and Karen George; grandchildren, Emily Richards, Katie Jessup, and Sarah Jessup; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Richards and Layton Richards.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Hayes and Flossie (Haddix) Hayes George; stepfather, Morris George, brother, Charles Hayes and Phillip George; and grandchild Joey Hayes.
Services were entrusted to the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
