Marilyn Rose Strahl, 84, of Columbus, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at her home. Marilyn was born on September 24, 1939, to Regile Sullivan and Pearl Hayden Sullivan. She married Doyle E. Strahl on October 24, 1981. Marilyn was a proud homemaker and was previously employed at McDowell Education and Tovey Shoes. She had a strong Christian faith and was a devoted member of Garden City Christian Church. Her hobbies include sewing, oil painting, but most importantly spending time with her family, dog Callie, and her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Tony Piper officiating. Calling will be from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Entombment will be held at Garland Brook Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana or Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home to help with Stephanie’s home health care needs. Survivors include her daughter, Stephanie (Ray) Shrader of Columbus, IN; grandchildren, Travis (Alison) Shrader and Tyler (Lacey) Shrader; great-grandchildren, Leana Shrader, Madison Shrader, Gavin Shrader, Wyatt Shrader, Bexley Shrader and several nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Regile and Pearl Sullivan; husband, Doyle E. Strahl on October 13, 2018; brother, William Sullivan; sister, Helen Thomas.

  1. I remember Marilyn from her McDowell days. She always had a warm smile to greet students and staff. She was truly a lovely person. My condolences to the Strahl family on this huge loss.

    • Marilyn was a special person with a sweet beautiful spirit, soft spoken and so pleasant to be around she will be missed , but I know she is in heaven praising the Lord. 🙏 praying for Stephanie and all the family.

  2. Marilyn was a very sweet lady. I worked with Doyle at Arvin’s and met her Abt some of the get togethers. I thought a lot of both of them. I’m so happy that she is in Heaven now.
