Lloyd Philip “Phil” Dobbins Jr. passed from this life unexpectedly of natural causes on November 26, 2023, in Austin, Indiana, at the age of 45. He was born on September 16th, 1978, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Lloyd and Janice Dobbins.
Phil is preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Philip Dobbins, Sr., and grandparents Harold (Florence) Carbine, Donna (Bob) Baldwin, John Dobbins Sr., Madrue (Ralph) Grinstead, and 6 uncles.
He is survived by his mother, Janice Carbine Miller, and step-father, Joe Miller, of Seymour, Indiana; his brothers, John Dobbins of Green Valley, Arizona; Matthew (Rachel) Dobbins of Indianapolis, Indiana; and Christopher (Adelea) Dobbins of Columbus, Indiana; his sister, Sara Dobbins, of Seymour, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
Following high school Phil enlisted in the army in 1998, where he served in the 82nd Airborne. After leaving the army, he traveled extensively, living all over the country. He often mentioned the place he missed most was San Francisco. He later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Psychology from IUPUC.
Phil was passionate about art, always making music in one form or another, especially playing his hand drums. He wrote numerous poems and short stories, and drew and painted in his free time. He enjoyed playing chess and talking to everyone, friends and strangers alike. His notable works include a literary magazine, “Twizted Tungz,” and a novella, “Szymon Symanski Goes to Hell.”
Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, 3855 25th St, Columbus, IN, with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 12:00 p.m. A graveside service and burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Park Cemetery in Greenfield, Indiana. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Phil’s life.

i enjoyed when phil and my grandson Josh would come to karaoke. phil was a very sweet guy and i loved to hear him sing he will forever be missed my prayers to his family. RIP Buddy
