James A. Wilson

James Arthur Wilson, 80, of Columbus, died at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis.
Jim was born on September 21, 1943, the son of Howard Raymond and Grace Wandoline Siddens Wilson. He married Nancy Perry on November 30, 1968. She survives.
Jim was raised in Williamsport, Indiana. He worked as a mechanic for Interstate Brands and was a Fleet Supervisor at National Linen. He was currently working at West Trucking. Jim was a proud Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Harley Owners Group of Columbus and a member of Moose Lodge 398. In his earlier years, he coached youth sports. He enjoyed sharing food with his mini-Dachshund, Harley. Jim had hobbies like NHRA Drag racing, motorcycle trips, and hanging out at the downtown Dairy Queen. A dedicated family man, and a loving, supportive Papaw, Jim will be greatly missed.
The funeral will be at 10:30 on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Jewell Rittman Family Funeral Home with Rev. Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Military Rites will be performed by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. Calling will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2024, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service date. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery with a gravesite flyover by Columbus Indiana Huey.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
Survivors include his wife; a son, James Gavin (Sonja) Wilson, of Columbus; a sister, Lavena Farney, of Columbus; grandchildren, Caitlin, Madeline, Thane, Seth, and Mia Wilson, all of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services were entrusted to the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
