Dawnya "Shelly" Callahan Ward

Dawnya “Shelly” Callahan Ward passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. Shelly was born in Columbus on January 5, 1972, the daughter of Billy and Chriss Ann Day Callahan. She married Larry Ward on July 31, 2009. Shelly was a Columbus East graduate and lifelong resident of Columbus. She graduated from Ivy Tech with an associate's degree in Business in 2012. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching crime shows on TV. Shelly was a wonderful grandmother who was completely wrapped up in loving her family. She was always there for her friends. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she will be greatly missed by all. A service will be held at 7 pm on Wednesday, February 7, 2023, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Rev. Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Visitation will be from 4 pm until the time of service. In keeping with Dawnya’s wishes, cremation is planned. Memorials may be made to Jewell Rittman Family Funeral Home to help with final expenses. Survivors include her dad; her husband, a daughter, Haley Bowman; a sister, Angela Wilson; a grandson, Gannon Perry; and a best friend of 25 years, Andreah Perry. She was preceded in death by her mother; a son, Austin Bowman; a sister, Amanda Jo Booker; a granddaughter, Kayydence Mings; and a nephew, Donovan Booker. Services were entrusted to the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
