I will never forget the very first time I met Traci…Shelby and Michael had just started dating a short time earlier. Shelby offered to help care for some of our animals while our family was out of town. In true Traci fashion, she didn’t know us yet, but she knew we had a large assortment of different types of animals and did rescue. So as not to let to let her daughter enter into a situation that Traci wasn’t sure of, she showed up- unannounced- on my front porch, to assess the situation first and make sure it was safe for her daughter. I open my door, and there stood Traci in July heat, wearing cut off denim shorts, tank top, hair in a messy bun and hot pink muck boots. She said “I’m Shelby’s mom. I didn’t know what all I was getting into but I’m meeting the animals first just to be sure she’s safe before yall take off for the week.” I had to laugh. Quite an interesting first meeting…and from then on I knew we would get along just fine. You will be missed. Thank you for all of the laughs, and for sharing your plants and your daughter with me for all of these years. I will take it from here. Rest easy, Momma. – Tara
I love you beautiful… Always! MaryJane
Traci’s passing breaks my heart! I have always considered her to be one of my best friends and we are birthday sisters 🥰 The first time I met her was when my son Jacob came home from school (grade school) and told me he found his bestest friend in the world…and she’s beautiful! It was Shelby. He wanted her to come for a sleep over. That awkward parent moment led me to calling Traci so we could get our kids together for a play date. From that moment on throughout all of grade school Jacob, Shelby, Traci and I were best friends. We all loved animals, fishing and hanging out doing whatever while our kids played together. I still blame Traci for all of the animals that I have 🤣 Everytime she found a stray or water fowl they ended up at my house. I still have several cats, the geese that were dumped at Cypress Lake and the Pekin ducks that we stopped traffic on 58 to catch so they wouldn’t get hit by cars. That girl had the biggest heart of anyone I have ever met. I love her for it! And Traci if your listening I never got to thank you for staying with me when I had to call 911 for Jacob and you and Doug were out hunting but you both came immediately. You kept me preoccupied by talking to me while Doug was doing his thing to make sure Jacob was ok. Again you have a heart of gold that never went unnoticed! I love you and I will never forget you…Doug and the kiddos! And Thank You for calling me out of the blue the Friday before you passed away! I’m so glad we got to talk about life and all of your animals. ❤️
Shelby was one of my best friends in high school and along with Shelbs came her wonderful mother. I spent countless days and nights at their house and Traci always treated me like one of her own children. She always had amazing stories to tell and gave us girls guidance whenever we needed it. She became a bonus mom to me. Love you always I am great full to have known such a lovely woman. May you rest easy momma Roe.
