Born on July 16, 1979, in Columbus, Indiana, Nikki's infectious smile and loving nature were evident from an early age. Nikki was a proud graduate of Columbus East High School, where she formed many lifelong friendships. Her love for learning and passion for animals led her to further her education at Vincennes University and later at Indiana University, where she studied with dedication and joy. Nikki's professional life was a reflection of her love for animals. As a skilled dog groomer, she brought joy and care to countless furry friends and their owners. Her gentle touch and friendly demeanor made her a beloved figure in the community. Nikki's love for her work was only surpassed by the love she had for her family. She was a daughter to her parents, Phil and Deborah Hammel, and a mother to her daughters, Bailey Kirts and Reeve Jarrell. Nikki's spirit will be carried on through the lives of her children, who she cherished above all else. Her grandmother, Janet Hill, will fondly remember Nikki's visits and the laughter they shared. Though her brother, Jeremy Philip Hammel, preceded her in death, the bond they shared continues to be a source of comfort to the family. Nikki's interests extended beyond her professional life. She was a beacon of positivity, always seeing the best in people and situations. Her love for animals was unmatched. Nikki was a happy person, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand. Those who knew Nikki will remember her as loving, friendly, and spirited. Her presence could light up a room, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Nikki's legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those she left behind. As we say goodbye to Nicole Ann Hammel, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the beautiful life she lived. Her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were touched by her warm spirit.

  3. Memories of Nikki and Jeremy are from their younger years growing up on East Clover . Fun-loving kiddos, riding bikes, laughing and helping out with the younger children on the street . Many summer days I depended on Jeremy to chase after Zachary and Nikki looked after Jill. Those were the carefree days when kids were welcomed in just about every home on our street for snacks, a little time to rest and usually some hilarious conversations . I always knew if I needed any kind of help, Jeremy and Nikki would do their best to help me out. They were special siblings; now, together again. All is well for them!
