Ella Mae "Louise" Roberts

Ella Mae “Louise” Roberts, 80, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Ella was born on August 22, 1943, in Jeffersonville, Kentucky, to Sam McGuire and Hazel Tabor McGuire. She married Carl A. Roberts on July 27, 1974. Louise dedicated many years of service to the Bartholomew County School Corporation as a special needs assistant, where she poured her heart into supporting and nurturing children with diverse abilities. Her patience, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her work left an indelible mark on the community and the many students she guided throughout her career. Beyond her professional life, Ella was an avid lover of the outdoors. She found joy in the simplicity of nature, whether it was fishing, boating, or camping. Ella's hands were rarely still, as she was often found creating intricate quilts that were not only works of art but also expressions of her love and care. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor James Wood officiating. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Louise will be laid to rest beside her husband Carl at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery. Survivors include her son, Rickie McCoy of Scipio, IN; sister, Barbara (Robert) Cross of Scipio, IN; sister-in-law, Betty McGuire of Kentucky. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. Roberts on June 17, 2020; brothers, Henry F. “Hank” McGuire and Sam David McGuire.
