Jane E. Pugh
March 5, 1941 ~ November 7, 2024
Jane E. Pugh, 83, of Columbus, IN, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Willow Crossing Health and Rehab. Born on March 5, 1941, in Hartford City, Indiana, to Frederick Spaulding and Elizabeth Dee Spaulding. Jane's early life was marked by a strong sense of community and a dedication to education. She graduated from Blackford County High School and furthered her studies at Marian University in Indianapolis, where she cultivated a lifelong love of learning.
Throughout her life, Jane was deeply involved in her community. She was a devout member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, where she found solace and strength in her faith. Her commitment to service was further exemplified through her active participation in the Delta Theta Tau Sorority. The sorority's focus on philanthropy and sisterhood resonated with Jane's own values, and she forged many lasting friendships during her time there.
Jane's professional life was characterized by dedication and excellence. She retired from a fulfilling career at Toyota Industries, where she was respected by her colleagues for her work ethic and positive attitude. Her retirement did not mark the end of her contributions to society, as she continued to find ways to give back and make a difference in the lives of others.
One of Jane's most treasured roles was that of a volunteer with Book Buddies, an organization dedicated to fostering a love of reading among children. She believed that literacy was a gateway to opportunity and took great joy in sharing stories with young minds. Her passion for volunteering was a testament to her belief in the power of community support and education.
Family was the cornerstone of Jane's life. She was immensely proud of her Irish roots and eagerly shared her heritage with her loved ones. Her stories of Ireland's rich culture and history were a source of fascination and pride for her family. Jane's love for her grandchildren was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her legacy of love, kindness, and family values will continue to live on through the lives she touched.
