Bonnie M. Hiatt, a beautiful soul full of love and kindness, passed away on November 13, 2024, in Columbus, Indiana. Born on March 29, 1942, in Canton, Illinois, she was a daughter to the late Earl and Helen Warren Bailey. Her life was a testament to the strength and warmth of her personality, touching all who knew her.
Bonnie's joyous spirit and thoughtful nature were evident through the love and devotion she showed to her children, Donna Gail (Troy) Gilpin of Columbus, Indiana, and Cecil Edward Burgess of Canton, Illinois. Her heart was full of love for each of her grandchildren, Jamison McFarlane, Brandon McFarlane, Shelby Littiken, and Carson Gilpin, and further still with her eight great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.
Survived by her caring brothers Harold (Millie) Bailey, Harvey (Susan) Bailey, and Ethan Bailey—all of Edinburgh, Indiana—and loving sisters Wanda Sue Warren of Mt. Sherman, Kentucky and Allison (George) Nolan of Edinburgh, Indiana, Bonnie leaves behind a legacy of familial devotion and warmth. She reunites with her dearly departed brothers, Donald, Kenneth, and Johnny Bailey, as well as her parents Earl and Helen Warren Beiley in a journey beyond this world.
A spirited soul, Bonnie relished the thrill of discovery at auctions, garage sales, and her trips to Walmart and San Souci, where she delighted in finding the best bargains. Yet, it was the precious, irreplaceable moments with her grandchildren that she treasured above all else.
A funeral service celebrating Bonnie’s life will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 18, 2024 at the Jewell – Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Hollenbeck officiating. Friends and family may visit on from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2024 and one hour prior to the services on Monday. Bonnie will be laid to rest in Bethel Baptist Cemetery.
To have known Bonnie was to have known a life embellished with love, kindness, and thoughtfulness. She graced the lives of others with an unending willingness to share her heart. Bonnie's memory will forever resonate as a guiding light of love for her family and all who had the honor of crossing her path.
