Eddie Lee King
September 12, 1978 ~ November 16, 2024
Eddie Lee King, a beautiful soul full of love and selflessness, left this world on November 16, 2024, but his legacy of kindness will forever illuminate the lives of those he touched. Born on September 12, 1978, in Columbus, Indiana, Eddie's journey was one of unwavering dedication to his community, his family, and the pursuit of joy in the simple pleasures of life.
Eddie's life was a testament to the power of service. His commitment to helping others was evident through his contributions to the Clay Township and German Township Volunteer Fire Departments, as well as his time with the Hope Police Department. He was a man who put on his uniform not just for duty but for the love of his community, embodying the words of Mahatma Gandhi, "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."
Travel was a source of rejuvenation for Eddie, who cherished the moments spent with his toes in the sand or the mountain breeze in his hair. Yet, no destination, no matter how exotic or serene, could rival the joy he found in the company of his beloved family. Eddie's heart was truly at home whenever he was surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Mickey Beisel King, who was his partner in every adventure and his anchor in every storm. His children, Sheyanne Street, Dominique (Jordan) Riley, Dylan L. King, Lelynd J. Fish, and Leyla B. Fish, all of Columbus, will carry forward his legacy of love and kindness. His grandchildren, Mason, Max, and Alizah, will grow up hearing tales of their grandfather's warmth and generosity. Eddie is also survived by his father Steve King of Wisconsin. Though his daughter Courtney S. King, his mother Nada Mead King, and brother James S. King preceded him in death, their memories remain a cherished part of his story.
Eddie's life was a living example of love in action. Those who knew him were touched by his selfless nature and his unwavering kindness. He was a man who listened more than he spoke, gave more than he took, and loved without expecting anything in return. His presence was a comfort, his laughter a melody, and his actions a lesson in compassion.
In a world that often celebrates the grandiose, Eddie's life reminds us that the most profound impact is made through simple acts of kindness. He was a man who understood that the strength of a community lies in the hearts of its people, and he dedicated his life to nurturing those hearts.
A funeral service celebrating Eddie’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at the Jewell – Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Bridgewater officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to service time on Wednesday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Friends wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so to Riley Hospital for Children or to East Columbus Christian Church through the funeral home.
As we bid farewell to Eddie, let us honor his memory by embracing the values he lived by. Let us be a little kinder, a little more selfless, and a lot more loving. In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Eddie's life was indeed a resounding success, and his spirit will continue to inspire us to live with purpose and passion.
Eddie's story does not end here; it is carried on in the lives of those he loved, the community he served, and the countless hearts he touched. His journey was one of joy, service, and unconditional love—a journey that will continue to guide us toward our own paths of selflessness and compassion. Eddie Lee King, a true embodiment of love, has left an indelible mark on this world, and for that, we are eternally grateful.
