Denny Richard Ayers, 85, of Columbus passed away at 4:37 a.m. on December 15, 2024 in Indianapolis.
Denny was born April 18, 1939 in Brown County, Indiana, the son of Albert “Pink” and Margaret Eleanor Seitz Ayers. He married Bonnie Jeanette Greathouse on September 12, 1958 in Brown County, Indiana.
Denny was a 1957 graduate of Van Buren High School in Brown County, Indiana. He worked for Arvin as well as Vernco/Ventra, retiring on December 31, 2005 from NTN Driveshaft. He was a car enthusiast and a life-long fan of all kinds of auto racing, especially NASCAR. He enjoyed listening to classic country music. He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed reading and studying the Bible every day with his wife. Denny will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 19, 2024 at the Jewell – Rittman Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of services Thursday. Denny will be laid to rest in Christiansburg Cemetery. Friends wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so to Love A Child Inc. (P.O. Box 60063, Fort Myers, FL 33906) through the funeral home.
Denny is survived by his wife; sons Steven (Lora) Ayers and Michael (Lisa) Ayers, both of Columbus; Gary (Tammy) Ayers of Blaine, Kentucky; daughters Susan (Eric) Eddelman of Brown County and Melissa (Jeff) Kirk of Taylorsville; sisters Patricia Ann (Benny) Bradley and Kathleen Barbara Martinez, both of Columbus; a sister-in-law Carolyn Ayers of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; grandchildren Patrick (Alexandria) Eddelman, Christopher Ayers, Daniel (Claire) Ayers, Shelley Kirk and Aurdria Childers; great-grandchildren William and Eleanor Eddelman, Penelope Childers, as well as Preston and Parker Ayers; along with many nieces and nephews. Also, Jackie (Gibson) Ayers and Jeff Gibson, whom Denny counted among his own children.
Denny was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Allen Lee Ayers and Larry Neal Ayers; and granddaughter Erica Dale Eddelman.

We are Sorry for the Passing of Denny, and Sending Our Thoughts and Prayers to Bonnie, and His Family. I First Met Denny in The Early 60s at Arvin, and Have Continued to see Him and Bonnie Occasionally at Local Restaurants. He will be Missed by Us and all that Knew Him.
