Bonnie B. Foster

bonnie foster

December 31, 1945 ~ April 11, 2025

Bonnie (Streeval) Foster, 79, died on Friday, April 11th, at her home surrounded by loved ones. Mrs. Foster enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, listening to music, praying, laughing, and spending time with family and friends. She spent her life encouraging others to be themselves and helping lift those around her up during difficult times. Always encouraging positivity and moving forward, she challenged others to follow her lead. Her sense of humor and intelligence were a constant, turning everyday moments and conversations into lifetime memories for those that knew her. Bonnie valued the importance of education and helped guide her children and grandchildren through school every day to prepare them for the road ahead. Her strength was an inspiration to all who knew her. She did it all as if it was nothing. In other words, she made it look easy. Bonnie was born on December 31, 1945, the daughter of Otis and Mary Streeval. She married the love of her life, Charles Foster Sr., on July 2, 1971. Bonnie is survived by her daughters Dana Foster, of Columbus, Kelly Foster Turner, of Edinburgh, and Noreen Foster of Illinois; a son, Charles M. Foster, Jr., of Indianapolis; 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; sisters Mattie DeSpain of North Vernon and Juanita Streeval of Taylorsville and Regena Collett of Edinburgh. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Hoyt, Donald, and James Streeval; a sister, Joyce Fiesbeck; and 2 grandchildren. There will be a memorial service held at Noon Friday April 18, 2025 in Garland Brook Mausoleum Chapel with Pastor Wes Jones officiating with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Following the service, she will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Bell Tower Garden at Garland Brook Cemetery. Mrs. Foster’s family asks, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to your local library or The Lord’s Cupboard in Franklin, Indiana. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. You are invited to view her memorial video and send a message of condolence to the Foster family via the funeral home website: www.jewellrittman.com.

Guestbook

  1. Bonnie was a lovely person through and through. A trait she passed on to her children. Although we were not able to get out to Indiana as often as we would have liked, we will miss her so much.
    George (Hirkie) and Donna Hogan

  2. Wonderful lady, and special neighbor. No matter what Bonnie was doing out side or what I was doing we always acknowledge each in some manner. She was a lot of fun to talk to. She always said it like it is, great trait.
Pat & I will miss her dearly.
Condolences to the immediate family members. If there is anything we can do, we’re here for you. Love us.

  3. Dana, Kelly, Alex, Logan, and extended family members,

Your mother was an exceptional woman who lived each day for her childred, her grandchildren, and her late husband,(Charles). My family and I were given the gift of her friendship many yrs. ago as new residents to Indiana from Pa. She and Charles made us feel much at home by calling us over to sit w/them in the yard and visit. As the years past, Bonnie and I became very close friends while sharing, caring, and giving to one another.
Being an avid reader, she was a mentor to her children and grandchild for giving them the insight for understanding the importance of learning through words. I will miss you everyday my special friend. You will be with me always.
Thank you for your loyal friendship… the laughs, the talks to ventilate with each other, our trips shopping, and by saying to me, “Pat, you are not just a friend, you are family. You are locked to my heart. “My Peace I leave you, my Peace
    I give you”.

    • Dana, Kelly, Alex, Logan, and family,

You all hold a special place in our hearts. I have fond memories growing up in the hood and all of our families outside talking, hanging out, laughing, swapping stories, sharing foods and veggies from the garden, playing lawn darts, and sitting in the yard watching the passersby. Sometimes even going to the Hoosier Kitchen ( The Truckstop) to grab a bite to eat. Nothing like a smalltown, and lifelong ‘family’ connections with neighbors.

We will all miss seeing your mom from our view on Mom and Dad’s porch, seeing and talking to her in person just to catch up a bit, making food drop offs, and texting or calling to check in with her to see if she’s okay or might need something.

Your mom was a kind lady that enjoyed people. She was sassy, and appreciative for all she had, and always wanted to spend as much time with her family as she could. It was evident in her eyes, and by the comments she always made on you girls’ Facebook posts how proud she is of you both, and how much her family means to her.

It’s always so difficult to have to say goodbye to someone we love SO much. So we know you all have a hard road ahead. We just hope that the strength instilled in you girls through your mom, gives you both some comfort, as well as all the wonderful memories you have with all the time spent with her and your dad.

Keeping you all in our continued prayers and hearts…As Sister Sledge says, “We are familyyyyy”.

      Love you guys,
      Kim Buchanan(Robinholt) & Troy

  4. My aunt Bonnie was so special. When I had hard times would call and only get positive thoughts. Would help me get threw. Sent me books to read. Loved her so much. Still catch myself telling her good night. We would text each other every night. Now you are on your child’s shoulder and with your loves in heaven.

  6. My memory of your Mom goes way back to when Dana and I was in Elementary school. I would go to their house and her mom would get us some chewy chocolate chip cookies and milk. The Foster’s lived right down from my Grandparents. Those were good times!
My heart goes out to the family! ❤️
