George Henry Lockhart

George Henry Lockhart, 76, of Seymour, died at 7:17 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2025 at his home. George was born August 31, 1948 in Columbus, Indiana, the son of the late Omer and Ruth (Piel) Lockhart. He married his high school sweetheart Jennifer Lou Johnson on October 16, 1966.
George and Jennifer enjoyed taking all day Sunday drives exploring different towns. He was happiest when he was with his wife and surrounded by his kids and grandkids. He retired from Hostess Cake after 37 years of service.
The funeral service for George will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Jewell Rittman Family Funeral Home. Calling hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Garland Brook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude, the American Cancer Society, or Donor’s Choice.
George is survived by his wife, Jennifer Lockhart; son, William (Jennifer DeHaven) Lockhart of Columbus; daughters, Tina (Gina Aldridge) Lockhart of Columbus, Katie (Scott) Douglas of Scottsburg, and Lisa (Brian) Purvis of Columbus; grandchildren, Zacharia, Anastasia, Zoey, Kaylynn, and Kinzie Lockhart, Corey, Courtney, and Caitlen Douglas, Brian (Hannah) Bland, Nick Prouse, Zoey and Kinzie Purvis, and Adam Lockhart; as well as 16 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Omer and Ruth Lockhart; brother, Carroll Lockhart; sisters, Catherine Foreman and Janice Schuppert; and beloved Chihuahuas Fred and Shorty.
Services were entrusted to the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.

Papaw always told you exactly how it is and always gave you his input but that was his way of showing how much he cared about us. I remember papaw teasing me when I went through my hair coloring phase with half my hair blonde and black .. or asking me if I had gotten my pants half off since there was so many holes in them . I love you papaw
