Don E. Horne, 85, of Columbus, IN, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025. He was born on June 14, 1940 in Columbus, IN to Wilbur C. Horne and Buelah Norene Robertson Horne.
A proud graduate of Columbus High School, Don's early life was filled with the promise of a bright future. He carried that promise forward as he furthered his education at Ball State University.
Don's professional journey was characterized by his role as an Insurance Claims Manager, where he was known for his fairness, attention to detail, and unwavering integrity.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Don was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. His service during the Vietnam War spoke volumes about his courage and his deep love for his country.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Garland Brook Cemetery, Garden of Gethsemane with Rev. Wes Jones officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
Survivors include two great nieces of Pennsylvania.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Buelah Horne; a brother, nephew and his companion of 25 years Beverley Watson.
Arrangements were entrusted to Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
