Bettie Lou Miley, 80, of Columbus, IN, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025 at her home. Bettie was born on July 21, 1945 in Mt. Sterling, KY to Lewis Pieratt and Ruth Bundy Pieratt. She married Donald H. Miley on May 13, 1963. Bettie's journey through life was marked by her unwavering commitment to the community, particularly evident in her years of service at the Central Middle School Cafeteria, where she retired after 19 years of service. Her work was not just a job; it was a mission filled with love and care for the countless students and staff she encountered daily. Beyond her professional endeavors, Bettie was a woman of many interests, each pursued with the same zest that characterized her approach to life. She found great joy in the world of Barbie collecting. Her collection was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of her playful spirit and a connection to the simpler pleasures of life. Crocheting was another of Bettie's talents, through which she crafted countless pieces that warmed the bodies and hearts of recipients. Her skilled hands created intricate patterns and cozy creations that became cherished gifts and keepsakes. A lover of all things that sparkled, Bettie's affinity for jewelry was well-known. She saw each piece as a celebration of life's special moments and the beauty of self-expression. Her collection ranged from the simple and elegant to the bold and colorful, each piece carefully chosen and treasured. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 3 p.m., at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, with Tim McConnell officiating. Calling hours will be from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday. Survivors include her husband, Donald H. Miley; daughter, Melissa Miley of Greenwood, IN; grandchildren, Aliyah Miley, Kyle Miley and Zachery Miley; brother, Brad Pieratt of Indiana; sisters, Beverly Pieratt of Kentucky and Bonnie Howard of Indiana. Bettie was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Ruth Pieratt; son, Christopher Miley; brothers, Barry and Bobby Pieratt; a sister, Beth McAllister.
