Patricia June Sparks

Patricia June Sparks, 90, of Columbus, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025. Mrs. Sparks was born on June 5, 1935, in Bartholomew County, to the late Dale Warner and Verna (Enochs) Fox. A proud and loving homemaker, Patty dedicated her life to raising her children and being a tremendous caregiver to many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an accomplished quilter and crocheted many blankets for family and friends. Patty showered those she loved with her homemade, from-scratch cooking. You could always look forward to homemade noodles for Thanksgiving and Christmas if Patty was involved. She and her late husband, Earl, enjoyed traveling, fishing, and camping. Patty was a devoted member of the Flintwood Wesleyan Church. Her loving family will forever cherish her memory. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Louis Sparks and the father of her children, James R. Carnahan, Sr.; a step-daughter, Sheila Jane McNeeley; siblings, Donald Lee, Jim, Bill, and Joe Ed Warner; and sisters, Peggy Jean Swafford and Candy Sue Henney. Survivors include her children, James R. (Patricia) Carnahan Jr., Verna Mae (David) McCulloch, and Thomas D. (Mechelle) Carnahan; step-son, Kevin (Laura) Sparks; brothers, John Warner and Chuck (Julie) Fox; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Patricia’s Life Celebration® Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m., and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the Jewell–Rittman Family Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Wes Jones officiating. Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery.
