Michael A. Aikins

Michael A. Aikins, 67, Columbus, passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 26, 2026. Mr. Aikins was born on July 30, 1958, in Indianapolis. He graduated from Emmerich Manuel High School in Indianapolis and from Indiana State University, where he was in the marching band. Mike worked for RadioShack for many years and later for Logos, Ltd. for 25 years, retiring in 2024. He was an avid fisherman, loved to play euchre, and continued to play the drums with his friends on most Tuesdays. Above all, family was Mike’s focus. He was an incredible grandpa to his grandsons, attending countless sporting events through the years. Wednesday night family dinners were a tradition that Mike began a number of years ago that continue to this day. He never knew a stranger and was quick to make friends. Mike will be fondly remembered by his adoring family for his kindness, constant support, and the biggest heart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles C. Aikins. Survivors include his daughter, Andrea (Chris) Hatton; grandsons, Ethan, Caleb, and Jesse (Margot) Wallace; great-grandchildren, Kinah, Boone, and Sylar Wallace. A private viewing will take place at the Jewell-Rittman Funeral Service & Crematory. Cremation will take place at the Bartholomew County Crematory by Jewell-Rittman. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
