Douglas Ray Croucher passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, in Hope, Indiana. He was born August 5, 1954, in Columbus, Indiana, to Perry F. and Sally L. Hopkins Croucher. On March 22, 1999, he married Rebecca Breeden, beginning a loving partnership that remained central to his life.

Doug spent most of his life on Schaefer Lake, where he developed a lifelong love of the water, his boat, and the outdoors. A proud graduate of Columbus High School, he carried a strong sense of community into a distinguished 32-year career as a firefighter for the City of Columbus. His courage, dedication, and professionalism earned the deep respect of his fellow firefighters and the community he faithfully served. He was also a member of the Hope Masonic Lodge.

Doug was an enthusiastic sports fan, especially devoted to his beloved Green Bay Packers. He also found great joy on the golf course, both as a player and later in retirement while working at Wyaloosing Creek Golf Course.

Music was another lifelong passion that brought Doug tremendous happiness. He loved playing guitar and sharing music with others whenever he could. He was a regular attendee of the Bean Blossom Blues Festival, where his appreciation for good sound and great company reflected his vibrant spirit and love of life.

Above all, Doug was a devoted husband, father, papaw, and friend whose warmth and generosity touched many lives. His greatest joy in life came from spending time with his family, grandchildren, and close friends. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his loving wife, Becky; daughter, Sarah (Casey) Mobley of Greenwood; grandchildren, Adelynn, Liam, Myla, Abram, Calan, and Clara; sister-in-law, Pam Croucher of Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and dear friends Brian Snyder of Westport, Keith Owen of Hope, Michael “Pistol” Larrivee of Rhode Island, and many others. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Donnie Croucher, Dale Croucher, and Debbie DeWalle.

In keeping with Doug’s wishes, no services will be held.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
