Tom Lanham, 73, longtime Columbus resident, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026. Tom was born on May 3, 1952, in Casey County, Kentucky, to the late Ralph Thomas Lanham, Sr. and Lois Marie (Hatfield) Lanham. Tom married Pam Lanham on April 18, 2018, after a 5-year courtship, and she survives.
Tom graduated from Indian Creek High School. He worked in various fields before coming a truck driver for the former Ulrich Chemicals. He retired from Brenntag after 20 years of employment in 2015. It is difficult to not think of cars when one thinks of Tom Lanham. He knew cars inside and out – and was quite talented in the restoration of classic automobiles. In addition to cars, though, Tom could really fix just about anything. He was the type of person who would do just about anything for anyone. Described as determined, hardworking, giving, and understanding, Tom will be remembered for being wisely selective with his words. Above all, Tom was devoted to his family and was an especially proud grandpa.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by siblings, David Harris, Norma Richardson, Judy Asher, Luke, Billy, and Jerry Lanham.
Survivors include his loving wife, Pam; daughter, Farrah (Tom) Davis; step-daughters, Jamie Frensemeier and Erin (Tim Marsh) Brenton; step-son, Eric Wesley; siblings, Joyce Hunter, Patty (Steve) Rhoddie, Mike (Kim) Lanham, Pete Lanham, and Becky Johnson; grandchildren, Taylor (Haylie) Voris, Trenton, Riley, and Bradly Davis, Freyja Frensemeier, Timothy Petro and Aviana Mount.
Tom’s Life Celebration® Visitation and Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, 3 to 5 p.m., at the Jewell – Rittman Funeral Service & Crematory, 3855 25th Street, Columbus. The funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. According to Tom’s wishes, cremation will take place following services at the Bartholomew County Crematory by Jewell – Rittman.
