Kathy Jo Jordan, a cherished sister, beloved wife, and esteemed professional in the finance sector, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, in Columbus, Indiana. Born on October 14, 1957, in Franklin, Indiana, the daughter of Everett Ocie and Rosalee Bassett Clayburn. She married David Jordan in 1974. He passed away in 2016.
Kathy’s journey began as the only sister among four brothers, a dynamic that shaped her into the strong-willed and resilient woman she was known to be. Her early years in Rosstown laid the foundation for a life characterized by determination and a spirit of independence that would define her personal and professional endeavors.
For over 25 years, Kathy dedicated her career to the world of finance, where she made her mark at Raymond James. Kathy’s commitment to excellence and her ability to mentor others left a lasting impact on the industry and those who had the privilege of working alongside her.
Beyond her professional life, Kathy’s passions were manifold. She had an enduring love for bears and found solace in the serene beauty of the Smoky Mountains. Her independence was complemented by her role as a caregiver to her late husband of 42 years, and her mother, a testament to her loving nature and the depth of her commitment to family.
Kathy’s zest for life was evident in her love for Long Island iced tea and coconut cake, indulgences that were only matched by her prowess in the kitchen. An excellent cook, Kathy’s signature oyster dressing was a highlight at family gatherings,
As a fun lady and sister, Kathy’s laughter and sense of humor were infectious. She had a unique ability to light up a room and make any occasion memorable.
Kathy is survived by her four brothers, Kelley (Amy) Clayburn, of Columbus, Dan (Crystal) Clayburn, of Lexington, KY, Jeff Clayburn, of Clifford, and Brent Clayburn, of Columbus; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband, David.
Service for Kathy will be held at 7:00 pm Friday, February 27, 2026 at Jewell Rittman Funeral Service and Crematory with Rev. Michael Black officiating. Calling hours will be from 4:00 pm until service time on Friday, February 27, 2026 at the funeral home.
Kathy will be buried next to her husband in Garland Brook Cemetery at 10:00 am Saturday, February 28, 2026.
