Elder Danny L. Edwards, 74, of Taylorsville, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Millers Merry Manor in Hope. He was born in Columbus on February 21, 1952 to Garnett Lee Edwards and Lola Frances Caffee Edwards. He married Treva L. Smith on January 16, 1976.

Danny lived a life marked by faith, service, music, and devotion to the people he loved. He was a lifelong resident of the Columbus community and carried with him a deep appreciation for the place he called home. Throughout his life, he was known for his warm spirit, steady presence, and the kindness he extended to others.

Danny retired from Dorel Juvenile Group after many years of dedicated work. He was respected by those who knew him for his strong work ethic, reliability, and the pride he took in doing his job well.

Faith was central to Danny’s life. He was a member and former pastor of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, and he also served as the former pastor of several Missionary Baptist churches. His ministry touched many lives, and he was deeply devoted to sharing the Word of God with others. Danny was a Bible scholar who studied the Scriptures with care and conviction, and he always put Jesus first in all that he did. His faith was not only something he spoke about, but something he lived each day through his actions, his words, and the example he set for others.

Music was another important part of Danny’s life. He was a talented musician and shared his gift through singing with the Melody Boys Quartet and Singing Sands. His love of gospel music and his ability to lift his voice in praise brought joy to many. Whether in church, in fellowship, or among friends, Danny’s music reflected his love for the Lord and his appreciation for the power of song to encourage and inspire.

Danny also enjoyed sports, playing and coaching basketball, softball and watching football. He followed the games with enthusiasm and found joy in watching competition and teamwork. Some of his happiest moments were spent supporting his children and grandchildren in their activities. He took great pride in their accomplishments and loved being present to cheer them on. His encouragement and interest in their lives were a reflection of the deep love he had for his family.

Those who knew Danny will remember him as a man of faith, music, and devotion, someone who lived with purpose and gave generously of himself. He leaves behind a legacy of service to his church, dedication to his work, and love for his family and community. His life was a blessing to many, and his memory will continue to be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
