Born in: Helena , Arkansas
Resided in: Hope, Indiana

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Julia A. (Clay) Leslie, who left this world peacefully on June 5, 2026, at the age of 71. Julia was born on July 2, 1954, in Helena, Arkansas, to the late Peter Jim and Anita (Wells) Clay.

As a dedicated secretary at VanAusdall & Farrar, Julia was known for her warm smile and unwavering support for her colleagues in the business systems industry. She retired from Help at Home, after spending several years in the role of caregiver. Her commitment to excellence and her compassionate nature made a significant impact on those fortunate enough to know her. She enjoyed painting ceramics, watching western movies, and was an avid reader. Julia was fiercely loyal to her family, her loved ones, and her faithful dog, Shadow.

Julia is survived by her loving son, David (Melissa) Bierlein; siblings, Cindy (Ray) Williams, Leah (Chuck “Mr. Anthony”) Frazee, and Alise Pate; one grandson, Kegan Bierlein; special nieces and nephew, Christel and Carin Chapman, Peter (Shellie) Chapman; and a loving extended family. Julia was exceptionally cared for by her close friend, Larry Johnson, during the last five years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Leslie; son, Timothy Holley and a nephew, Clayton White.
A visitation will be held on June 10, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Jewell-Rittman Funeral Service & Crematory, where loved ones can gather to share their memories and celebrate Julia’s remarkable life. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the same location, providing a time for reflection and remembrance, with Pastor Ed Boston officiating. Following the service, Julia will be laid to rest in Hawcreek Baptist Cemetery, next to her beloved son, Timothy.

Memorials may be directed to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, c/o the funeral home.

Julia Leslie’s gentle spirit, love for family, and commitment to her work will be dearly missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
