Juan “Papa Juan” Castillo Huesca

Juan Castillo Huesca, 77, of Columbus, passed away at home on June 12, 2026. Juan was born in Veracruz, Mexico, on June 24, 1948. He had been a resident of Columbus for more than 15 years. Juan loved to farm, ride horses, and care for his animals all together. He was a loving family member to his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was part of the Catholic Church and attended St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.

Juan will be remembered by his loved ones for the wisdom he passed down to the younger generation and great care that he had for everyone around him. He always brought home treats for his family and talked to them about the life that he once had on the farm or the memories he made with his wife and friends.

He will now be with his wife, Maria, on the other side who passed away in September of last year. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Maritza Castillo Dominguez and Dennis Castillo Dominguez (Elias); son, Juan Castillo (Elsa); grandchildren, Jonathan Meihls, Carolina Dominguez, Alan Dominguez, and Brian Dominguez.

Friends and family will gather from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2026 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Cremation and funeral arrangements are being handled by the Jewell-Rittman Funeral Service and Crematory.
