Phyllis A. Westerfield

Phyllis A. Westerfield, 89, of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community, Franklin, IN. Phyllis was born in Nashville, IN on March 30, 1937 to Virgil Floyd & Rebecca Woods Floyd. She married Richard L. “Dick” Westerfield on October 18, 1998.

Phyllis devoted many years of her life to her work and was retired from the Edinburgh Public School Corporation. Through her years of service, she contributed to the daily life of the school community with reliability and care.

Outside of her work, Phyllis found great joy in quilting. She was an avid quilter whose hands created beautiful pieces that carried both skill and heart. She especially enjoyed making baby blankets, and these handmade gifts became a meaningful expression of her love and generosity.

There will be no services, Phyllis will be laid to rest beside her husband Richard at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Survivors include her son, Robert E. Moore of Columbus, IN; daughters, Ruth A. (Ken) Crane of Ft. Myers, FL and Rebecca D. (Jeff) Fiesbeck of Safety Harbor, FL; also surviving is 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Pamela Sue Moore; brothers, Virgil Keith Floyd, William Albert Floyd; sisters, Ruby Teckenbrock, Mary Alice Floyd and Betty Jean Floyd.

Arrangements were entrusted to Jewell-Rittman Funeral Service & Crematory.
